Numerical Modelling of Traditional Buildings Composed of Timber Frames and Masonry Walls under Seismic Loading

چکیده

Existing heritage buildings are often composed of diverse materials and structural typologies, representing a challenge for analysis tasks. This work investigates the combined use simple Lumped Plasticity Models (LPM) macro-mechanical Finite Element (FE) approaches to evaluate seismic response structures timber frames masonry walls. The calibration these engineering models is derived from wide set nonlinear static analyses reproducing benchmark experiments on specimens. LPM FE used eventually appraise two existing timber-masonry hybrid buildings, located in historical centre Valparaíso, Chile. performed with predict acceleration-displacement capacity under seismic-like horizontal loading, revealing their potential local global failure mechanisms.
